Hi, I’m Sandra Mitchell — the home cook, recipe tester, and air fryer enthusiast behind AirFryerBites.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m so glad you’re here.

My Story
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d ever run a food website. Honestly, for most of my life, cooking was just something I did — not something I was passionate about.
Growing up in a small town in Ohio, I watched my mother cook from scratch every single day. She made it look effortless — Sunday roasts, homemade soups, big pans of cornbread that disappeared before they even cooled down. Back then, I took all of it for granted.
When I got married and had kids of my own, reality hit fast. Suddenly I was the one standing in the kitchen at 6 PM, tired after work, staring into the fridge and trying to figure out what to make for dinner — again. The meals I grew up loving felt too time-consuming, and the “quick” recipes I found online were either too complicated or just not that good.
For years, I cooked out of obligation, not joy.
Then Came the Air Fryer

It was my daughter who convinced me to try one. I resisted for months — I thought it was just another gadget that would end up collecting dust in a cabinet. But one rainy Sunday afternoon in 2019, I finally plugged it in and made a batch of chicken wings.
Twenty-two minutes later, I pulled out the crispiest, most perfectly cooked wings I had ever made at home.
I stood in my kitchen and laughed out loud.
That was the moment everything changed.
I started experimenting obsessively. Vegetables that my kids used to push around their plates suddenly disappeared when I made them in the air fryer. Frozen snacks came out actually crispy. Leftovers tasted fresh again. I was making appetizers, side dishes, and full dinners faster than I ever thought possible — and I was enjoying every minute of it.
Cooking stopped feeling like a chore. It became my favorite part of the day.
Why I Started AirFryerBites
After a couple of years of testing, tweaking, and sharing recipes with friends and family, I kept getting the same question: “Can you write these down somewhere?”
So I did.
I launched AirFryerBites because I wanted a place where everyday home cooks — especially busy parents, working adults, and anyone who loves good food but doesn’t have hours to spend in the kitchen — could find recipes they can actually trust.
Every recipe on this site has been tested in my own kitchen, with real ingredients from a regular grocery store. I don’t use fancy equipment or complicated techniques. I write the way I cook: practical, honest, and always focused on flavor.
My promise to you is simple: if it’s on AirFryerBites, it works.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not developing new recipes, you’ll usually find me:
- Drinking too much coffee in the morning before the house wakes up
- Reorganizing my spice cabinet (yes, again)
- Turning classic comfort food into quicker, crispier air fryer versions
- Hosting family dinners where the appetizers always disappear first
- Binge-watching cooking shows and taking notes like it’s homework
I’m a mom, a home cook, and a firm believer that good food doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’re new to air frying, welcome — you’re going to love it. And if you’re already obsessed like me, you’re in the right place.
Thank you so much for being here. It means more than you know.
Happy cooking,
Sandra ♥
